Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are designed to regenerate and resurface the skin.

Chemical peels are a type of exfoliation of the top layers of the skin which in turn improves sun-damage, pigmentation, wrinkles, texture and the overall appearance of the skin. Chemical peels can also help to address common skin concerns such as acne, solar lentigines, melasma, and keratosis pillaris.

There are different types and strengths of chemical peels. Each is designed to suit different skin types and problems.
Lactic/Glycolic (Alpha-Hydroxy Acid) Peels:

Lactic acid, derived from milk, and glycolic acid, which naturally occurs in sugar cane, are used in chemical peels to resurface the upper layers of the skin (epidermis). This assists to improve pigmentation, fine lines, mild sun damage and promote collagen growth in the lower layers of the skin.

Jessners Peel:

Jessners peel is a combination of lactic acid, salicylic acid and resorcinol, which can be superficial to medium in depth (the epidermis and may involve the top layer of the dermis). A Jessners peel resurfaces the epidermis and is particularly effective for oily/congested skin. Salicylic acid deeply penetrates the skin and removes congested sebum and dead skin cells. This peel improves congestion and oil flow, pigmentation, fine lines and mild textural irregularities.
